HEAVY SURF ADVISORY

Updated: Dec 26, 2024

There is a huge storm brewing in the North Pacific.  It will send swells upwards of 40 to 50 feet to Ocean Beach in San Francisco.  Every year these swells, coupled with offshore winds and relatively good weather (September through January) delight the beach goers of the Westside! Surfers, joggers, walkers, bike riders and sunbathers flock to the beach to enjoy Mother nature at her best!

However, the storms and associated swells I am referring to are the Recall of Supervisor Edgardo.  There is a palpable unrest in the Westside: residents’ way of life is being impacted in an unthinkable manner.  The closure of the Great Highway was rejected by a near supermajority of the residents of the Sunset and Richmond districts!

The unprincipled conduct of the Sunset supervisor is unprecedented for the residents of these great neighborhoods.  He clearly stated when running for office that he would support a compromise on the Great Highway.  Therefore, he is not acting in the interests of his constitutes.  Moreover, the Richmond district supervisor supported a comprise while he put the closure on the ballot and supported it at every opportunity!

Elected officials represent the people who elected them.  Principled ones often must act for their constitutes in a manner which might go against their own personal feelings and beliefs.  Our supervisor listened to and acted upon the wishes of a small minority group of Sunset residents that were backed by YIMBY’s and Bike Coalition proponents.  Did you know that SFMTA gives tens of millions of dollars a year to promote the Bike Coalition agenda?  Did you know that YIMBY’s are financed by Downtown special interest groups and billionaires?

Yes, there is a Heavy Surf Advisory in effect for the Westside residents.  Now is the time to act!  Now is the time to rise to the challenge!  Do we let these special interest groups destroy our neighborhoods?  Do we let unprincipled Supervisors betray us and then just meekly cooperate with them and downtown special interest groups?  Support the recall of this unprincipled supervisor.

Sincerely,

Marty Murphy
